Being Non-Christian in Albuquerque: A Panel Discussion at Brotherhood Brunch

December 15, 2015
“What do you mean, you don’t celebrate Christmas?”

Jews are not the only ones who encounter such disbelief. Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, and Buddhists are some other groups who share our December dilemma.

Congregation Albert Brotherhood’s monthly brunch will feature a panel discussion, “Being Non-Christian in Albuquerque,” on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE, Albuquerque.

The brunch costs $10 for Congregation Albert Brotherhood and Sisterhood members and $12 for others.  Make reservations to ensure the kitchen may prepare adequate amounts by calling 505-883-1818 ext. 3203 or by email to: .

The panelists will include: Satya Tikare of the Hindu Temple Society of NM, Kulmeet Singh of the Albuquerque Sikh Gurudwara, Imam Shafi Abdul Aziz of the Islamic Center of New Mexico, and a representative from the Buddhist community.  Among other issues, the discussion will consider dealing with all the Christmas symbolism in December and explaining Christian holidays to children.
